On the 5th of April 2019, at the Institute DATA IA at Saclay, the Minister of Armed Forces Florence Parly introduced the new strategy for artificial intelligence and defense.
Artificial intelligence is both a source of progress and threats in the defense sector. In this framework, the Minister of Armed Forces, Florence Parly, introduced the new strategy for artificial intelligence and defense on the 5th of April 2019 at the Institute DATA IA at Saclay.
The French strategy advocates a responsible and controlled use of artificial intelligence in the defense sector. It aims to protect citizens while seizing the opportunites provided by this technology to enhance France’s commitments to the security of the Nation.
Florence Parly also announced the creation of a special comittee which will focus on ethical questions related to artifical intelligence in the sector of defense.
100 millions euros should be invested each year, in fields such as planification, cyberspace, logistics, intelligence.
